This 2 hour workshop is embedded in a 2-day conference that highlights the science behind compassion, empathy, and altruism. In this workshop, you will engage in activities from “Making Friends with Yourself: A Mindful Self-Compassion Program for Teens,” a research-backed program that has been shown to decrease anxiety, depression and stress. Research on teens and self-compassion will be shared as well.

Self-Compassion Tools for Teens: Working with Self-Judgment and the Inner Critic
Self-compassion has been shown to be associated with less stress, depression, and anxiety. In this day-long interactive workshop, participants learn specific skills to help teens navigate the challenging teen years through cultivating self-compassion, building resilience, and strengthening their ability to treat themselves with kindness. Research on self-compassion and teens will be reviewed, and interactive exercises will be included.
